When studying Chinese astrology it is never enough to generalize all people born in the same year. The year a person was born in signifies what society sees in them. In sociology we know that external influences and expectation molds the individual. To find out what a person is like on the inside one would have to analyze their day of birth. So if your reading the summaries below and feel that you might fit more than one sign it could be because your day, month or hour animals corresponds to these different creatures. But I will save that for lessons to come.

Horse Sign South (172.5-187.5)
1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990

The horse is a gallant achiever. He's book smart, street smart and a little on the haughty side. With all this knowledge he still approaches life naively in a fun and playful way. But don't believe for a second he won't fight. The horse may appear amiable and willing to put up with a lot, but there is a thin line between love and hate here. These people have a high drive to be the best. Eventually a cozy nest will be preferred over the cruel competing world. They like to be part of the crowd, so they'll join sports, dancing, or some other group organization.

Snake Sign South-Southeast (142.5-157.5)

The Snake is a sign of wisdom. All those that are born in this year are insightful and usually mature beyond their age. Trials and tribulations while growing up molds this person into a determined individual that learns to refuse defeat. Added their quasi-psychic-logical abilities makes them know the right path even though it may be laden with obstacles. These people are visionaries who have a way with words and use the power of their minds to rise above others.

Dragon East-Southeast (112.5-127.5)

These people are born into luck. Because they are blessed with a streak of admirers, loving partners, lots of friends, spousal and family support in both emotional and financial areas they tend to not see it, and end up taking life for granted. However, nothing will have a dragon fumed up and ready to conquer the world again than to piss him off and tell him he can't or he is incapable. The dragon always knows how to show you up. But know, since he is the power sign, there are higher forces that will lend a hand in pissing him off if they catch him slacking off or taking people for granted. A beaten down dragon is not a pretty sight. However, in the end he will metamorphosize into a great human being we can all be proud of. Just make him suffer first.

Rabbit / Cat East (82.5-97.5) sector

The rabbit is cute and lovable. Not really a mover and shaker for his life is more satisfying with companionship, stability and a warm family. He may a big circle of friends from all over the world where he genuinely wants friendship rather than having the what-can-you-do-for-me mentality. He loves peace and he will usually avoid confrontation at all cost. They usually don't seek to conquer but he has a way of setting the screen on fire. He has a talent for playing all sorts of characters. Just remember he's playing.

Tiger East-Northeast (52.5-67.5)
1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1987

Tigers are very earthy people with tons of animal magnetism. These guys are blessed with a nice physique with high beliefs about rights, wrongs and injustices. Here's your typical hero or heroine. Don't let their abrasive manner or sharp words fool you into believing they are not good guys. In fact they are the most misunderstood creatures of the zodiac. Because they will always put up a fight, in the beginning they may appear to being doing it out of the selfish need to be in control. But show them appreciation and you will be the one they stand up for. Respect is a necessary word in all their relationships. Respect, however, is not a verbal gesture as they do not get fooled by idle sweet talk. To get a tiger to trust you is nearly impossible, but once he does, he will respect you and be there for you through thick and thin. But fail him once and he'll won't even blink as he saw it coming. Ox North-Northeast (22.5-37.5)

"I can't believe you got away with that," is the typical phrase you'll hear when dealing with one. When the ox finally leaves the room and has gotten his way, everyone looks around and asks how did that happen. As if he cast a spell with his aura, he is able to open people up and get things from then no one else can. You name it, complimentary meals, VIP passes, tickets to fly around the world, he gets it all. The thing is he usually doesn't have that much to begin with. But people love to offer this guy great deals, if not, he knows how to coerce them into giving it to him. They are stubborn and don't take no as an answer. Perhaps it's their ability to mow through objection yet stay charming or perhaps it's their ability to pretend to be shamelessly dense. They definitely don't abide by anyone's expectations yet they have a lot of their own. Either way the ox has bizarre magic over others. This magic of his could lead him down a very profitable road if they just trust in it and not abuse it.

Rat North (352.5-7.5)

The rat is the master of human relations in both business and personal affairs. His ability to romance his counter gives him the choice to select the best deal. Which is great for business but not necessarily for love. To those not dealing with him, he may come off as if he's flirting or kissing up to everyone. To those that deal with him feel special and entranced by him. The rat makes an excellent sales and businessman because of that. As a life long partner, better catch him when he's young. If he's disappointed once, he'll always be weighing out what the best deal is. Prove to him you are the best and you will get all his support and money.

Pig North-Northwest (322.5-337.5)
1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983

Pigs were meant to live the life of leisure and luxury. Even so he's a hard worker. He has no problems being generous, but he's no fool about giving his life away. Maybe once...but that was it. He's that friend that watches your back....if he's your friend. On the outside he appears attractive and sweet. On the inside he can also be quite the philanthropist. Sometimes though, he's tactlessly direct. He's got thick skin and won't hesitate to make you look like a fool if you mess with him. Yet he can be so sweet the next. Deep down the pig is a generous animal loving person. It's the people he's got problems with.

Dog West-Northwest (292.5-307.5)
1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982

The dog is really a sweet fellow. He's generous to a fault. Tells the truth the way it should be told....bluntly. He's the guardian of the gate serving and protecting those he love. He's a hard worker and his mission on this earth is to help, heal and protect. He's a simple chap who just wants to be touched and loved. But he can live a life without it for his need to fulfill responsibility is far overwhelming. He is responsible for every living thing in his life. Which makes him a great parent, devoted spouse, and dependable employee. He will find satisfaction in field that require him to be responsible for lives, security and service.

Rooster West (262.5-277.5)
1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981

The proud and arrogant rooster has the power to rally support. Whatever he's doing he has to be the leader. In his group of friends they all flock to him. They look up to him and they depend on him. The temptation to abuse power is often there. The rooster rarely makes friends that are "better" than him. Perhaps he has a few equals...but only a few. This is because he follows no one. Instead, many people depend on him. The rooster is sometimes torn between being really generous and really selfish. He knows people responds to generosity, but at the same time he has to survive and think of himself. At times, his cautiousness around the purse strings make him appear a bit frugal. But truly, he'd rather be generous than not. It gives him a sense of power.

Monkey West-Southwest (232.5-247.5)

The monkey is innovative, scheming and creative. He's the creator, he not only can create, he's got part of the rat's deal mentality and some of the dragons luck which makes him an ideal businessman. He approaches life curiously taking everything step by step. Once he figures out the route to success he has no problems replicating it over and over. But while he's figuring everything out he's like a child putting things together. This innocent child is only guilty of one thing, trying to see if anyone is as smart as him.

Goat South-Southwest (202.5-217.5)
1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979

The goat is another crafty sign. These people are creative. They are very good with there hands and can diligently work around the clock. They are also quite popular as they tend to be sociable and outgoing. They are the person the boss depends on without fear of being overthrown. They are the people you run to when the world is against you. Goats were put on this earth to love those that have been lost. They may have their opinions about certain people and may even nag a whole lot but in the end they are the good deed doers. They don't compete for the top seat, they simply want to exist.
