Of all feng shui schools, the most important and most accurate is the 8 compass formula and flying star feng shui. You cannot escape the fate of these formulas. However, you should be aware so you can either lessen the blow or confidently accept the good. I've done countless analysis on many people's lives and it has always proved to be true.
For instance, Laci Peterson was born in 1975, Kua number 7. Her home that she died in was facing her death direction, East. Not only did it face her death direction, but she renovated her home a few years before, so her front door's Earth Base number changed from 4 to 5. She died December 24, 2002. The annual flying star for the east sector was 5, the monthly flying star for that year was also 5. That's triple 5's! So that house was doomed for loss bad luck.
Scott Peterson was a Kua number 1 person, so east would have been his luck/health direction. But even that wasn't enough to defeat the triple 5 influence. But you got to hand it to him. The faux golden child almost got away.
When we are under the influence of bad luck, we do a lot of stupid things mostly do to our state of loss and fear. Chances are during that time, Scott was in desperate need of money and survival which means he thought with his primal root chakra aka the lower self. Adding low level thinking doesn't improve anyone's luck.
That was an unfortunate story, but it proves feng shui is not superstition it is real and always working whether a person believes or not.
Before you have a heart attack and lose hope, a person can always escape bad fate by thinking positively, seeking change, growth and opportunity. When you do, the urge to move will be natural. When you refuse to change, grow and evolve the urge to stay is higher than likely.
Let's say your home's front door faces the death direction. It does not mean you're going to die. But it could mean, you may attract people who will cause you much harm either accidentally or purposely. It is possible that a series of ill events can do a number on your psyche. Thus drawing you closer and closer to extreme negativity, thus attracting more negativity. Or you might not understand why your thinking is muddy and you have a hard time getting from point A to point B, whereas someone else in the home is opperating just fine.
So now, let's imagine your house as living entity. It has a face and the front door is the mouth that receives nourishment or chi. Each direction has an invisible energy influence. Either the chi is coming in is compatible with you or it's not and causes confusion. Because your house is like your head, things in the house should be somewhat orderly which represent your mental state. Everyday you walk into this home your brain naturally etches a neurological pathway. This is why some experts recommend you taking new routes to expand your mind (etching more new neurological pathways).
Let's say you have a jammed door, for instance, it may reflect the psyche not being able to open or something is stuck. If everyday you look at the door and think "it's stuck," you eventually become stuck. If your front door (your mouth) is stuck, perhaps that's symbolic of not having enough food or energy. Are you starting to get the picture of how your external world reflects your internal world and vice versa?
This is not magic or superstition, is common psychology. But it's also a reason why you should pay attention to your living environment. It says a lot about what's going on in the inside. So it's very important for the front door to be bright and lush so good energy can help you grow and evolve in this existence.
Perhaps you might consider adding feng shui bells to ring in new energy.
I am thinking of buying my own home which I will share with a friend. First the house is on a corner with two doors. The most accessible is the kitchen door which faces south. The front door faces west. I was born in 1949 and my friend was born in 1934. Is this house for us? It needs alot of work.

It's preferred to get a home with the correct facing direction.
If you buy this house you will experience less than favorable luck in the first two years in terms of loss opportunities. But since you will be using the south door you might also experience some good times as well. However, since home buying is a long term commitment, please make sure you pick the right direction to save yourself from the burdens of a possible bad choice. Moving out is a lot of work as well as selling the place.
